Fivetide, that is my preferred formation, but I only think you can play it if you have 2 X DM's that are exceptional to stop the counter attacks when our attacks inevitably break down.
Rice is very inexperienced, but might deliver over a season, only time will tell. I can't see that we have anyone else who can do the job, with the exception of Wilshere (perhaps this is what Pelle's plan is for Wilshere)? That could probably work, provided he stays injury free, which isn't a given.
I don't understand why money wasn't spent on at least one DM considering that has been such a weakness in our team for many years?

I don't hate him, he's seems like a good man, he's just not very good. Ok as a back up, but he has been dropped 3 times in 2 years for shocking form, why would you persist with him?

This would be my starting 11 for most home games - probably won’t be so gung-ho away - maybe put Noble in when away...

I think it’s a sign of how poor we were last year that almost all of our new signings go straight into the starting XI (and also the feeling that 6 out of the 7 could get straight into it)
Not sure how anyone can watch Kouyate and Adrian last couple of years and still think they get in, Fabianski a far superior keeper FWIW. Antonio, same, although could be given benefit of the doubt due to injuries!
